Don Corleone turns to Michael and says: “there wasn’t enough time, Michael. There just wasn’t enough time”, which we assume was about not wanting to leave Sicily and, more specifically, this special villa in the north of the island.
Lazy Godfather references aside, Villa Vittoria is worth every second of the hair-raising journey on a dirt track to reach it. Situated in a quiet pocket of northern Sicily, its living room offers a panoramic view over the mountains all the way to the bay of Palermo. There’s something very decadent about enjoying a sea view from the comfort of the private swimming pool.

Tourism in Sicily is mainly concentrated around the cities of Palermo and Catania, with many flocking to picturesque towns like Syracuse and Taormina. Villa Vittoria is located in the hills outside Cèfalu, a charming town on the northern coast of the island which you may recognise from scenes in the classic Italian film Cinema Paradiso.

The villa sleeps 8 and is the perfect find for a family or friend group, and suitable for children. Its style is clean and simple, with all the amenities you’ll need to enjoy a comfortable stay – but you’ll also want to hire a car to explore the nearby towns (Castelbuono was a hidden gem worth the winding roads to get to) and access the nearest shop, which is several miles down the aforementioned dirt road.
The local service from Massimo Villas, the company specialising in rental of Villa Vittoria and several other luxury properties in and outside of Italy, was attentive and personalised. We opted for their recommendation of a local personal chef, who cooked us an incredible multi-course meal of delicious dishes particular to Sicily and the local region. And if you get tired of the view from the pool, they have a host of activities to recommend, from boat trips to wine tasting.

If you’re looking for a secluded escape with lots of culture close by or a good place to celebrate an occasion with family and friends, Villa Vittoria and Massimo Villas are prepared to make you an offer you can’t refuse.
